Mendocino County Housing Hub

Step 5 of 5

Fill out and sign the Policy Consensus Worksheet

As soon as the Board adopts the community proposal to adopt a community-designed amnesty policy, we will move as a group to codify the agreed principles of the new policy points, which will align with adopted California State Amnesty Law AB 2533. Your participation in this process now smooths the way and will save months in the process.

This form begins the process of a community directed approach to building the components of a fair and sustainable code enforcement policy that includes compassionate care for those who cannot bring their entire property up to code in the face of a complaint or other enforcement catalyst.

This form follows the policy mandates already adopted at the state level via AB 2533 for ADUs and Junior ADUs which could be adapted for all dwellings. Read about AB 2533 in the Library: Planning an ADU Amnesty Program – ABAG Excerpts. You might also want to read our own summary based on AB 2533, Amnesty Basics.

Suggested background reading before you complete and sign the worksheet: Basics to Address Current Documented Harm — the draft community-designed amnesty program for unpermitted buildings in Mendocino County, which the worksheet items below are drawn from.

We would love to hear your thoughts on these consensus questions, so there is space under every item for comments, suggestions or concerns, if you feel so moved.

If you are concerned about signing because your property is currently (or potentially might be) involved in an enforcement proceeding, you can write the reasons why you do not want to sign in the signature box instead of your name — just please make sure to pledge that you are a concerned resident of Mendocino County. Why you don't feel comfortable adding your name could itself be powerful testimony.

The worksheet

Check each proposed design paragraph you approve. If you don't approve, or would change something, write your thoughts in the box under that item.

Your responses go only to the community organizers and are used to show the county the breadth of consensus. Names are never published.

Can't fill this out online? Email help@saveourhousing.org or call [phone number coming soon] and we'll make arrangements to help you complete and sign the form.

That's all five steps — thank you. Every signature, letter, share, seat in the room, and worksheet strengthens the case that this community stands together. We'll keep you posted on the Updates page and by email.
